Housing and Dining Options

Housing and Dining Selection at Unity Environmental University at Pineland at the University of Southern Maine.

Unity Environmental University at Pineland is partnering with the University of Southern Maine (USM) to offer housing at Woodward Hall on the USM Gorham Campus.  You can view a video tour of the hall on YouTube.

The University of Southern Maine residence halls are equipped with the following:

  • High-speed wireless internet access
  • Energy Star rated MicroFridge (combined refrigerator/freezer/microwave)
  • Dresser, Desk, Desk chair
  • Extra-long twin beds
  • Closet or wardrobe


Amenities for staying at the USM residence hall include:

  • Attend Gorham campus events available to USM students
  • Access USM libraries
  • Use USM gym facilities.
  • Usage of the METRO transportation services for a fee, (https://gpmetro.org/)

Students must sign up for housing prior to the dates listed above.  Requests for housing after this deadline may be considered based on availability.  Students will be charged for the entire semester of housing and dining at the time of sign-up.

To qualify for housing at USM, Unity Environmental University at Pineland students must be matriculated and enrolled in a Unity Environmental University at Pineland degree program and be 18 years of age or older.

Signing Up for Housing

Step 1: Complete Housing and Meal Plan Forms.

  • Log in to your Unity student portal and fill out the housing and meal plan forms.
  • Career Imagineers, Career Coach, or advisor will assist you during the housing selection process.

Step 2: Complete the USM Person of Interest (POI) Form (USM Housing Form)

  • Within approximately one week of signing up, USM will send you a Person of Interest (POI) form to complete and return.
  • This form will be sent to your Unity email address.

Step 3: Receive and Complete the Housing Application

  • After USM receives your POI form, they will create a USM email account for you and send you the housing application to your USM email address.
  • The housing application will include:
    • A questionnaire for choosing a roommate.
    • A link to create a co-branded USM/Unity ID card photo.
    • For any type of USM business please read your USM email.

Step 4: Room Assignments

  • The USM Housing Department will notify students of their room assignment and roommate within 72 hours of submission of the housing application.
  • Ensuring you get your roommate preference requires both individuals to submit each other’s names in their respective applications.
  • Students who signed up for housing and dining and withdraw prior to move-in are eligible for a 100% refund of those fees and any other fees associated with USM housing and dining. After move-in, students are no longer eligible for a refund.

Step 6: Welcome Event

USM will host a welcome event for Unity Environmental University students to foster inclusiveness and help Unity students meet each other, building a strong group from the start.

Dining Services at Brooks Dining Hall

Students who sign up for Unity Environmental University at Pineland housing at USM will also be required to enroll in a 19 meal per semester plan.

Parking is optional and available for a fee of $20/week. Please refer to the following link: Parking Services (maine.edu).

ADA Housing Information

Questions regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or requests for accommodations in the residence halls should be directed to the Unity Environmental University at Pineland ADA Coordinator. To prepare your accommodations request with the ADA Coordinator, you will need to provide documentation from your healthcare provider that clearly states the reason for your request and outlines the specific accommodation you need. Once the ADA Coordinator approves the file, it will be forwarded to the USM ADA office to ensure coordination and consistency

Student Discount Policy at the Pineland Market

Discount Amount

Students are eligible for a 10% discount on their purchases.

Eligibility and Guidelines

  • The discount is available exclusively to current students who present a valid student ID.
  • The discount is only valid from 2:00 PM onwards. Any attempt to apply the discount before 2:00 PM will be unsuccessful.
  • The discount does not apply to the purchase of beer or wine.

Applicable Location

The discount is only valid for purchases made at the Market at Pineland.

Important Reminder

Students must present their ID at the time of purchase to receive the discount. The discount cannot be applied without a valid student ID.
