Vice President of Enrollment Management - In-Person Learning
Dr. Karleen Howard is the Vice President of Enrollment Management at Unity Environmental University at Pineland. Throughout her distinguished career, she has been a trailblazer in academic administration with a primary focus on enrollment management, financial aid, recruitment, retention, and marketing. Dr. Howard is deeply committed to empowering students to achieve their educational aspirations and has a strong track record of leveraging technology to enhance student enrollment and retention. Prior to her current role, Dr. Howard held several key leadership positions in enrollment management. As Vice President of Enrollment Management at Somerset Community College in Kentucky, she orchestrated transformative initiatives that significantly boosted student enrollment and diversified the student body. Her strategic oversight and implementation of innovative recruitment and retention strategies were instrumental in enhancing the college's academic profile and fostering a supportive learning environment. Previously, at Spring Hill College in Alabama, Dr. Howard served as the Executive Director of Enrollment Management and Director of Financial Aid, where she led comprehensive efforts to streamline financial aid processes and optimize veteran affairs services. Her proactive approach to student outreach and engagement contributed to notable increases in student enrollment and ensured equitable access to educational opportunities. Dr. Howard's expertise extends beyond traditional enrollment management practices. She has consistently demonstrated a keen understanding of market dynamics and consumer behavior, leveraging her MBA in Marketing from St. Leo University to develop impactful marketing campaigns that resonate with diverse student populations. Her multifaceted background in business administration and educational leadership underscores her holistic approach to driving institutional growth and student success. With a doctoral degree in Executive Leadership from Wingate University, Dr. Howard embodies a commitment to continuous improvement and strategic innovation in higher education administration. Her unwavering dedication to student-centered initiatives and technological advancement continues to shape the landscape of enrollment management in academia.

Dr. Erika Latty
President of the Enterprise, CAO and Professor of Botany
Dr. Erika Latty, Professor of Botany, President of the Enterprise and Chief Academic Officer, is a forest ecologist who specializes in the effects of introduced tree disease on forest structure. She holds a Phd in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Cornell University and a B.A. in Biology from Harvard University. Erika served in her previous role as Dean of the School of Environmental Citizenship from July of 2016 until her appointment as Chief Academic Officer in April of 2017. Prior to serving as Dean, Erika was a Unity Environmental University center director and faculty leader. Before coming to Unity Environmental University in 2007, Dr. Latty was Chair of the Environmental Studies Program and Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. Prior to that she was a Research Associate at University Wisconsin-Madison.

Dr. Heidi Wilkes
Chief Learning Officer, Acting Academic Dean of In-Person Learning
Dr. Wilkes work focuses on academic policy, assessment, and compliance, as well as library and digital resources planning and operations. She works closely with student success and other leaders designing and delivering quality programming that prepares environmentally competent professionals to shape and safeguard sustainable ecosystems and formulate solutions for our most pressing global, ecological, economic, and societal challenges. Dr. Wilkes holds a Doctorate in Law and Policy from Northeastern University, an M.B.A. in International Business from Bentley University, and a B.A. in International Relations from Boston University, Dr. Wilkes brings an interdisciplinary perspective to her role of Chief Learning Officer. Her ability to lead high-performing teams, manage complex projects, and cultivate positive organizational culture has been shaped throughout her career in higher education in New England, including recent academic leadership roles as the Associate Dean of Academic Operations at the University of New England and the Associate Vice President of Learning Solutions at Southern New Hampshire University.

Angel Martínez Loredo is a seasoned higher education administrator, boasting a career spanning over three decades. Throughout his journey, he has remained steadfastly committed to the cause of equitable education. Angel's path has been characterized by innovative leadership, advocacy for diversity and inclusion, and a profound belief in education's transformative potential. Proudly identifying as a Mexican American Chicano activist in higher education from Texas, he embodies a dedication to his heritage and its impact on his work. In his role as the Dean of Student Success at Unity Environmental University, Mr. Loredo shoulders the responsibility of designing, implementing, and continuously supporting initiatives aimed at enriching the student experience and fostering accessibility and inclusivity. He champions for institutional resources to be allocated towards the creation and maintenance of high-quality student success programs. Loredo consistently evaluates and fortifies all facets of student success, striving to enhance processes and efficiency.

Hannah Gutzwiller
Associate Director of Library and Digital Resources
Hannah Gutzwiller is the Associate Director of Library and Digital Resources. She is based on the Unity Pineland Farms campus where she works closely with in-person and online students to provide research support and maintain library collections. Before she came to Unity Hannah engaged in competitive research and had the opportunity to practice professional facilitation. She earned her MLIS from St. John's University and has a special interest in social justice work in library spaces.

Thomas Ianello
Educational Technology Specialist
Thomas Ianello is the Educational Technology Specialist. With a strong background in digital media communications and systems administration, and a passion for technology and environmental education, his primary focus is implementing and facilitating Unity's vision for a future-proof multimedia production lab that will enable faculty and staff to create engaging content for any conceivable purpose. Additionally, Thomas is responsible for optimizing and troubleshooting Unity's learning management system, Canvas, along with managing HyFlex classroom technology at Unity locations, both of which are critical to student and faculty success. As a creative technologist, Thomas has worked with nonprofits and marketing agencies to further their outreach and engagement efforts through content creation and brand stewardship, as well as developing forward-thinking solutions for optimizing operational workflows through collaborative platforms, automation frameworks, and user empowerment initiatives.

Natasha Hudnor is a dedicated member of the In-Person Learning team at Unity Environmental University at Pineland. Natasha earned a B.A. in History and Archives from Franklin Pierce University. During her career with Unity, she worked with the recruitment team and is now joining the advising team to guide students on their educational journey in environmental fields. Because of her professional experiences, Natasha can give a personalized approach to support each student's academic and career goals.
Beyond her career, Natasha is passionate about being in the outdoors, enjoying activities such as fishing, hiking, and kayaking. Continuously seeking to enhance her skills and a love of learning, she regularly participates in classes and workshops to expand her knowledge of outdoor pursuits. This love for the outdoors allows her to genuinely connect with students who share a similar passion for an active outdoor lifestyle.

Enterprise Building Coordinator
Russell Voss is the Enterprise Building Coordinator whose primary objective is to foster student success. He manages the daily operations of Freeport Hall, which includes classrooms, laboratories, public spaces, and offices, to guarantee organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and safety. Russell’s responsibilities encompass streamlining administrative procedures, managing building deliveries, and overseeing the check-in process for visitors and vendors. This comprehensive role ensures the smooth functioning of our educational environment, contributing to the overall success of our students. Russell has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in management.
